Deck overview

This deck is a Gruul Stompy build helmed by Ruric Thar, the Unbowed. Its strategy revolves around ramping out large, efficient creatures while punishing opponents who rely on noncreature spells. By keeping noncreature spells to a bare minimum, the deck largely ignores Ruric Thar's symmetrical 6-damage trigger, turning it into a one-sided tax against spellslinger, control, and combo opponents. Early turns deploy dense mana dorks like Llanowar Elves and Ilysian Caryatid to accelerate Ruric Thar onto the board by turn 5. Once Ruric Thar lands, the deck chains massive trampling threats such as Ghalta, Primal Hunger, Ilharg, the Raze-Boar, and End-Raze Forerunners to overwhelm the table in combat. While the deck boasts heavy ramp redundancy and potent anti-spell attrition, its lack of instant-speed interaction and protective counterplay leaves its attackers exposed to well-timed board wipes and fast combo decks.
