Deck overview

Elminster leads an Azorius control and big-mana spellslinger strategy that turns library manipulation into overwhelming board presence. The deck uses a dense suite of scrying cantrips, top-deck enablers like Brainstorm and Scroll Rack, and cost-reducing effects to smooth its early development. Once Elminster enters the battlefield, his passive ability dramatically discounts high-mana sorceries based on scry counts, while his loyalty abilities generate card advantage and an explosive army of flying Faerie Dragons. High-impact spells such as Storm Herd, Expropriate, Aminatou's Augury, and Mnemonic Deluge serve dual purposes as devastating discounted plays or fuel for Elminster's token-generating ability. The deck protects its engine with efficient countermagic like Dovin's Veto and Swan Song, controls the board through Cyclonic Rift and Swords to Plowshares, and closes the game through flying combat swarms boosted by Coat of Arms or alternate paths like Approach of the Second Sun.
