Deck overview

This deck is a mono-black attrition and wheel strategy commanded by Sheoldred, the Apocalypse. The primary game plan revolves around deploying Sheoldred early, then leveraging forced symmetrical draw effects like Teferi's Puzzle Box, Dark Deal, and Howling Mine to weaponize card draw against opponents. Each card drawn drains opposing life totals by 2 while buffering your life total. The deck converts life into mana velocity and massive card advantage using engines like Bolas's Citadel, K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth, and Peer into the Abyss. Supported by explosive big-mana lands like Cabal Coffers and Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx, the deck rapidly ramps into catastrophic burst turns. Secondary win conditions such as Psychosis Crawler, Underworld Dreams, and Aetherflux Reservoir ensure lethal reach even without the commander. While highly resilient against creature-based strategies, the list remains vulnerable to instant-speed stack interaction and dedicated artifact or enchantment removal.
