Deck overview

This Kaalia of the Vast deck is a Mardu battlecruiser strategy designed to bypass the steep mana costs of powerful Angels, Demons, and Dragons. The game plan focuses on fixing mana across three colors, deploying Kaalia on Turn 4, and attacking on Turn 5 to cheat massive threats directly into combat. Payoffs like Sire of Insanity, Serra's Emissary, and Terror of Mount Velus strip opponent resources, grant team-wide protection, and double combat damage. Supported by versatile Mardu spot removal such as Vindicate and board wipes like Cleansing Nova, the deck controls opposing boards while assembling an overwhelming aerial armada. While high tapland counts create slight tempo drag and Kaalia is vulnerable to early removal, connecting with her triggers rapidly snowballs an evasive clock that eliminates opponents over subsequent combat steps.
