Deck overview

This deck is a classic Mardu aggressive battlecruiser deck helmed by Kaalia of the Vast. The core strategy revolves around deploying Kaalia by Turn 4 and attacking on Turn 5 to cheat massive, game-ending Angels, Demons, and Dragons directly onto the battlefield tapped and attacking. With 37 high-power flying payoffs in the 99, Kaalia reliably has devastating threats to deploy on every combat step. Top-end finishers like Drakuseth, Maw of Flames, Archfiend of Despair, and Aurelia, the Warleader rapidly multiply combat damage and eliminate opponents across consecutive combat phases. The deck also features high-impact stax and protection pieces such as Clarion Conqueror, Drana and Linvala, and Serra's Emissary to hinder opposing plans while advancing its own aerial assault. Because the deck relies heavily on Kaalia connecting in combat and lacks tutors or 0–1 CMC fast mana, careful sequencing around opposing removal is essential for success.
