Nev, Dean of Hydras by James803

Format: Commander

Commander: Nev, the Practical Dean

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This is a mono-green +1/+1 counters deck helmed by Nev, the Practical Dean. The core strategy revolves around casting Hydras and other X-cost creatures with massive X values, then leveraging the deck's dense counter-doubling suite (Hardened Scales, Branching Evolution, Doubling Season, Innkeeper's Talent and more) to make those creatures enormous in a single turn. Nev provides trample to all creatures with counters and grows himself when you cast your first X-spell each turn, acting as an efficient mana sink and combat enabler. The deck wins primarily through overwhelming trample damage, often finishing with Triumph of the Hordes for a one-turn infect kill. Finale of Devastation for X 10 offers haste and a massive pump to close out games. There are no infinite combos - the plan is pure, redundant combat inevitability backed by a moderate protection suite.
