Deck overview

The Lord of Pain is a group-slug engine that stops life gain and punishes every player's first spell each turn with direct damage. The deck leans into goad effects to force opponents' creatures into each other while Dictate of the Twin Gods doubles all damage, turning the commander and Kaervek the Merciless into rapid-fire pings. Secondary paths include commander-damage bursts via Blast-Furnace Hellkite and a late high-mana finisher like Blood for the Blood God!. The commander is the primary damage source, but the deck still has enough slug payoffs to function if it is temporarily neutralized.
