Deck overview

Rat King, Verminister is a recursion-and-token engine built around 25 Rat Colony. The deck floods the board with one-mana Rats using Jet Medallion, Herald's Horn, and Bontu's Monument, then finishes by pumping the swarm with Ashcoat of the Shadow Swarm or draining with Valley Rotcaller. The commander's activated ability sacrifices three Rats to return every Rat Colony from the graveyard, so the swarm is repeatedly rebuilt. Rat King, Pale Piper sits in the 99 as a hidden commander, generating replacement tokens whenever nontoken Rats die and turning extra tokens into draw. Secondary lines use Thrumming Stone Ripple chains and Marrow-Gnawer's mass token generation to outpace opponents. Bastion of Remembrance and Ogre Slumlord convert deaths into life loss and more Rats.
