Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This Esper spellslinger-control deck is helmed by Y'shtola, Night's Blessed, who turns every noncreature spell with mana value 3 or greater into a two-point drain per opponent plus life gain. The primary game plan is to establish a control shell-counterspells and instant-speed removal-while accruing incremental value from Y'shtola's triggers and other life-loss payoffs like Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, Kambal, Consul of Allocation, and Papalymo Totolymo. Card advantage flows through Mystic Remora, Archmage Emeritus, Alphinaud Leveilleur, and Black Market Connections. The deck eventually closes games with a large Exsanguinate or through sustained drain that grinds the table down. Recursion engines such as Emet-Selch of the Third Seat, Reanimate, and Animate Dead provide resilience and spell reuse.
