Deck overview

This mono-black deck combines reanimator strategies, devotion engines, and an infinite combo win condition centered around Professor Onyx and Chain of Smog. Commanded by Baron Helmut Zemo, the deck leverages connive triggers and heavy self-mill—accelerated by dredge cards like Stinkweed Imp and Golgari Thug alongside M.O.D.O.K.—to fill the graveyard with high-impact black permanents. The commander's boast ability can exile fifteen black mana symbols from the graveyard to cast up to three high-cost copies for free, enabling explosive swings with threats like Archon of Cruelty, Doomsday Excruciator, and Valgavoth, Terror Eater. Mana acceleration from Dark Ritual, Crypt Ghast, and K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth propels the deck into its game-ending lines by Turn 5. Meanwhile, disruptive staples like Opposition Agent, Orcish Bowmasters, and Sheoldred, the Apocalypse punish opponents' development while you assemble a lethal finish.
