Deck overview

This deck is a dedicated Golgari Insect tribal and aristocrats engine commanded by Grist, the Hunger Tide. Because Grist counts as a 1/1 Insect creature card in all non-battlefield zones, it maximizes tribal synergies and triggers from the library and graveyard. The primary strategy focuses on deploying Grist on Turn 3, using its +1 ability to continuously generate Insect tokens while milling creatures into the graveyard. As the graveyard grows, cards like Aatchik, Emerald Radian, Spider Spawning, and Izoni, Thousand-Eyed flood the board with overwhelming numbers of tokens. The deck finishes games through wide combat damage boosted by The Swarmweaver alongside Grist's -5 ultimate, which drains all opponents based on creature count. With built-in removal on the commander and recursion from Zask, Skittering Swarmlord and Bloodline Bidding, the deck maintains steady pressure through removal.
