Deck overview

This Mardu deck uses Edgar Markov to spearhead an aggressive Vampire tribal strategy supported by aristocrat drain effects and an infinite combo finish. Edgar's eminence ability generates a free 1/1 Vampire creature token whenever any Vampire spell is cast, creating a wide board presence without requiring early mana investment into the commander. Low-cost Vampires quickly populate the battlefield, enabling team-wide anthems from lords like Stromkirk Captain and Legion Lieutenant to exert early pressure. Aristocrat engines such as Blood Artist, Cruel Celebrant, and Bastion of Remembrance punish opponents for attempting board wipes by turning creature deaths into lethal life drain. When combat damage is stalled by blockers, black tutors find Exquisite Blood alongside Sanguine Bond or Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose to assemble an instant-kill loop. While the deck boasts resilient recovery through mass reanimation, it must navigate a mana base containing multiple tapped lands and limited stack interaction.
