Deck overview

This deck is a Gruul Stompy and punisher build commanded by Ruric Thar, the Unbowed. Its strategy revolves around utilizing early mana acceleration such as Sol Ring, Orcish Lumberjack, and Chrome Mox to deploy Ruric Thar ahead of curve on Turn 4. Once assembled, Ruric Thar punishes noncreature spells by dealing 6 damage to the caster, severely taxing opposing tutors, sweepers, and mana rocks. The deck bolsters its board with aggressive Ogres, Changelings, and high-impact payoffs like Coat of Arms, Omnath, Locus of Rage, and Ancient Copper Dragon. Strong creature tutors like Survival of the Fittest and Natural Order provide access to heavy beaters. However, the deck suffers from thin card draw engines, prolonged combat exposure across three response cycles, and minimal reactive interaction against creature-based strategies or opposing combo attempts.
