Deck overview

This deck is an Izzet control and burn strategy piloted by River Song, turning universal Magic game actions—searching libraries, scrying, and surveilling—into lethal direct damage. The deck establishes early tempo with low-cost ramp and deploys River Song by Turn 3. It then leverages targeted land-destruction spells that force opponents to search for basic lands, such as Cleansing Wildfire, Geomancer's Gambit, and Demolition Field, each triggering River Song's Spoilers ability to grow her power and deal escalating damage. The mid-game scales dramatically through mass search enablers like From the Ashes, Radiant Performer, and Radiate, capable of forcing dozens of searches across the table in a single turn to eliminate life totals. In addition, River Song's unique bottom-drawing static ability enables an extra-turn loop alongside Timestream Navigator and haste equipment. Backed by elite free countermagic and shroud protection, the deck reliably controls the stack while burning opponents out.
