Deck overview

Averna, the Chaos Bloom leads a high-velocity Temur midrange deck that synergizes the cascade mechanic with landfall triggers and 'cast from exile' payoffs. The deck uses low-cost ramp spells and cantrips to deploy Averna on Turn 3. Once assembled, casting mid-curve cascade spells like Bloodbraid Elf and Throes of Chaos provides immediate card advantage while Averna puts exiled land cards directly onto the battlefield. This surge in mana velocity rapidly sets up massive top-end threats such as Maelstrom Wanderer, Apex Devastator, Avenger of Zendikar, and Omnath, Locus of Rage by Turn 5. The deck overwhelms opponents through wide token swarms, Moraug extra combats, and direct burn from Keeper of Secrets and Passionate Archaeologist. While resilient against single-target countermagic thanks to cast triggers, the strategy commits heavily to the battlefield and lacks stax pieces or dense counterspell suites. It relies on explosive board rebuilds and decisive one-sided wipes to secure victory.
