Dream Grixis Combo-Nicol Bolas by user3028006

Format: Commander

Commander: Nicol Bolas, the Ravager // Nicol Bolas, the Arisen

Bracket: 5

Deck overview

Nicol Bolas, the Ravager fronts a fast Grixis combo-control build whose primary plan is the Thassa's Oracle + Demonic Consultation/Tainted Pact kill. Tutors and rituals assemble the two-card line as early as turn two, while free countermagic protects it. Underworld Breach with Lion's Eye Diamond and Brain Freeze provides an independent storm kill, and Hullbreaker Horror plus cheap mana artifacts can lock the board. The commander himself is a redundancy/engine piece: the front face provides a discard effect, and the Arisen side offers late-game card advantage and recursion. There is no hidden commander; the deck is built around the front face, with Arisen as backup value rather than a required combo element.
