LOTR/Hobbit Tournament deck by Astriado

Format: Commander

Commander: Saruman, the White Hand

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

The deck is a Saruman amass-and-control hybrid. The primary plan is to keep Saruman, the White Hand on the battlefield and turn every noncreature spell into an amass trigger, eventually creating one enormous Orc Army and attacking for lethal. The hidden engines are Saruman the White in the 99, a second amass commander, and Wizard's Staff, which doubles Saruman's trigger. Combat kills come through Rising of the Day, Lightning Greaves, or Assault on Osgiliath to give haste, while The Great Goblin adds a direct-damage layer. Counterspells protect the Army during the final swing, but the deck needs resolved threat protection and can be collapsed by removing its single Army.
