Deck overview

This deck is a high-synergy Mardu Vampire Aggro-Aristocrats build piloted by Edgar Markov. The strategy capitalizes on Edgar's Eminence ability, which spawns a 1/1 Vampire token whenever any Vampire spell is cast, creating a wide, resilient board presence without ever needing to cast the commander. The deck curves aggressively from turns one through three with low-cost Vampires, quickly building a formidable board state. By turns four and five, it leverages explosive scaling effects like Shared Animosity, Sanctum Seeker, and Cathars' Crusade to deliver heavy combat damage while Aristocrat drain pieces like Blood Artist, Cruel Celebrant, and Vein Ripper punish sweepers and drain opponents. A compact two-card infinite combo featuring Exquisite Blood with Sanguine Bond or Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose provides a non-combat win condition. The deck maintains steady card advantage through Skullclamp and Black Market Connections, supported by efficient exile removal.
