Deck overview

This deck is a classic Golgari Aristocrats and graveyard control engine commanded by Meren of Clan Nel Toth. The primary game plan accelerates mana on the opening turns, establishes expendable utility creatures, and resolves Meren on turn 4 to build experience counters. By turn 5, the deck transitions into a suffocating attrition lock using recurring edicts such as Plaguecrafter and heavy stax pieces like Smokestack, Sheoldred, Whispering One, and Tergrid, God of Fright. Combat denial from looped Spore Frog activations buys ample time to grind down opposing boards. The win condition relies on reanimating large, evasive threats including Avacyn, Angel of Horror, Junji, the Midnight Sky, and Witch-king, Bringer of Ruin, paired with life drain from Poison-Tip Archer and Cauldron of Essence. While resilient against traditional destruction and creature combat, the strategy relies heavily on graveyard integrity and lacks stack-based countermagic.
