Deck overview

This mono-black Zombie aristocrats deck is piloted by The Ghoul, Gunslinger, using death triggers to proliferate radiation counters and generate Treasure tokens. The strategy establishes early board presence through low-cost Zombies, self-mill, and sacrifice fodder like Gravecrawler. Once a sacrifice outlet such as Viscera Seer or Nantuko Husk joins the commander, the deck converts nontoken Zombie deaths into ramp and indirect burn. Card advantage engines like Undead Augur keep resources flowing, while payoffs such as Plague Belcher, Shepherd of Rot, and Bolas's Citadel apply lethal pressure to all opponents simultaneously. The deck features reliable creature removal and graveyard recursion, allowing it to recover from mid-game wipes. However, it lacks answers for noncreature permanents and carries minimal stack interaction, leaving it vulnerable to fast combo strategies and heavy artifact or enchantment-based engines.
