Deck overview

Gorma, the Gullet is the counter-engine and payoff of a Golgari aristocrats combo deck. The primary plan is to set up a cheap sacrifice outlet plus a persist creature, then use Gorma's enter-the-battlefield counter ability to offset the -1/-1 counter from persist, creating an arbitrarily large number of death triggers. Blood Artist, Zulaport Cutthroat, Vengeful Bloodwitch, Ayara, and Cauldron of Essence convert each loop into table-wide life loss. Secondary paths use Thran Vigil or Mazirek as backup counter sources and Exsanguinate as a mana-sink finisher; the same engine can also make Gorma enormous for commander damage. The deck is creature- and graveyard-centric, with heavy redundancy and tutoring to assemble the loop.
