Deck overview

This deck combines Spirit tribal synergies with an asymmetric Azorius stax strategy. In the early turns, it deploys low-cost evasive Spirits alongside disruptive tax and lock pieces such as Rule of Law, Archon of Emeria, and Drannith Magistrate. These pieces heavily restrict opponents' ability to cast multiple spells, combo off, or deploy fast mana. The deck breaks parity on these restrictions because its commander, Millicent, Restless Revenant, features Affinity for Spirits and produces 1/1 flying Spirit tokens whenever nontoken Spirits deal combat damage or die. Additionally, flash Spirits like Spell Queller and Rattlechains allow the deck to advance its board on opponents' turns. Once the token engine is established, the deck scales rapidly with anthem effects like Supreme Phantom and Cathars' Crusade, or finishes games decisively with Moonshaker Cavalry and Raise the Palisade. Robust protection from Selfless Spirit and Guardian of Faith shields the board from opposing sweepers.
