The Unslain

Format: Commander

Commander: Gargos, Vicious Watcher

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This is a mono-green Hydra tribal stompy deck helmed by Gargos, Vicious Watcher. The plan is straightforward: ramp into Gargos, leverage his {4} Hydra cost reduction to dump oversized X-spells and six-drop Hydras far ahead of curve, then close through combat with enormous +1/+1-counter bodies. Gargos's secondary ability turns any targeting spell into a free fight, giving the board incidental removal and a soft deterrent. Primary wins come from combat-especially Hydra Omnivore spreading damage table-wide and counter-doublers like Kalonian Hydra, Doubling Season, and Unnatural Growth pushing power into lethal ranges. There are no infinite combo lines; inevitability is pure board presence backed by counter-moving pieces such as The Ozolith. Gargos is a strong enabler but not a hard lock-piece-the 99 still functions as green stompy if he is answered.
