Deck overview

The deck plays a Gruul tribal creature plan that can win through combat while retaining a compact combo finish. Early mana creatures and land tutors accelerate into Tovolar, Dire Overlord, Wolves, Werewolves, and card engines such as Beast Whisperer, Guardian Project, and Sylvan Library. Tovolar, Dire Overlord rewards combat connections with cards and can turn a wide creature board into a large trampling attack. The strongest supported finish is Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker plus Zealous Conscripts. Creature tutors give the deck several ways to assemble the pair, but the five-mana creatures and need to wait through Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker's summoning sickness make the ordinary finish closer to turn 7 than to cEDH speed. Interaction is broad but mostly three mana or more, and protection is useful without being fully reliable. The deck therefore has a credible high-power casual plan, not a competitive Commander construction.
