Deck overview

This deck is a mono-black Voltron strategy centered on Whiplash, Vengeful Engineer. Because Whiplash costs only a single black mana, the deck establishes an early board presence on Turn 1. It quickly stacks low-cost equipment to trigger Whiplash's ability, draining all opponents whenever he attacks while equipped. The deck accelerates using powerful mana sources like Mishra's Workshop, Lake of the Dead, and Cabal Coffers. It protects its commander using hexproof, indestructible, and ward equipment such as Commander's Plate, Champion's Helm, and Brotherhood Regalia. Between Turns 4 and 5, it deploys massive force multipliers like Bloodletter of Aclazotz, Cranial Plating, Genji Glove, and Hatred to eliminate opponents in rapid succession through lethal combat damage and amplified life drain. Robust secondary engines and alternate attackers provide strong resilience against removal.
