Deck overview

Matoya, Archon Elder is a mono-blue scry and surveil control deck. Matoya turns every scry or surveil into a card draw, so cheap cantrips like Opt, Consider, Preordain and Hithlain Knots become card advantage while you control the stack. The deck grinds value with engines such as Curator of Mysteries, Cruel Witness, Hermes, Overseer of Elpis and Palantir of Orthanc, and wins by incremental mill through Psychic Corrosion, Jace's Erasure, Drowned Secrets and The Water Crystal. Its assembled win is the Curator + Matoya + Mind Over Matter discard-untap loop for infinite draw and mill. Hullbreaker Horror offers a flash control finisher, and Curator of Mysteries acts as the hidden commander for the combo.
