Deck overview

This deck is a Dimir Horror tribal deck commanded by Captain N'ghathrod that combines aggressive mill with graveyard reanimation. Early turns focus on deploying cheap, evasive Horrors such as Dauthi Horror and Silent Hallcreeper while establishing mana. On turn 5, Captain N'ghathrod enters the battlefield, giving all Horrors menace and turning combat damage into targeted mill. At the end step, the commander reanimates the best creature or artifact milled that turn, establishing a compounding board presence without expending cards from hand. In the late game, the deck scales through graveyard-fueled finishers like Consuming Aberration, Guiltfeeder, and Syr Konrad, the Grim, or game-ending mass recursion from Rise of the Dark Realms. While the deck possesses explosive theft potential, its low density of fast mana rocks and absence of tutors mean it operates at a fair, combat-focused pace vulnerable to sweepers and graveyard exile.
