Deck overview

This deck is an Abzan midrange strategy centered on the toxic, infect, and proliferate mechanics from Phyrexia. Helmed by Ixhel, Scion of Atraxa, the deck focuses on landing early evasive creatures to give each opponent their initial poison counters. Once an opponent reaches three poison counters, the corrupted mechanic activates, allowing Ixhel to exile cards from opposing libraries to provide card advantage. Midgame turns leverage proliferate engines like Evolution Sage, Bloated Contaminator, and Staff of Compleation to advance poison totals without needing massive combat steps. Heavy finishers such as Tyrranax Rex, Vishgraz, the Doomhive, and Phyrexian Swarmlord apply decisive pressure to close out the game. The deck operates smoothly on curve due to a 40-land base, though its reliance on creature combat and lack of stack interaction leave it vulnerable to board wipes and fast combo decks.
