Deck overview

This Dimir theft-and-monarch deck helmed by Garland, Royal Kidnapper aims to seize control of the game by making an opponent the monarch, then stealing their best creatures each time the crown changes hands. The primary plan is to deploy Garland early, use goad effects (Bloodthirsty Blade, Coercive Impetus, Parasitic Impetus) to force opponents to attack each other, and continuously re-steal creatures as the monarch shifts. Stolen creatures get +2/+2 and cannot be sacrificed, turning them into formidable beaters. The deck also packs a dense reanimation suite (Bringer of the Last Gift, Sepulchral Primordial, Aberrant Return) to recur threats from any graveyard, and a handful of theft-on-a-stick permanents (Hostage Taker, Mind Flayer, Shield Broker) to supplement the commander. Victory comes through incremental combat damage from a growing army of stolen and reanimated creatures, with no infinite combos or fast mana to accelerate the clock.
