Deck overview

This deck is a mono-black control and stax engine built around Maha, Its Feathers Night. Maha sets the base toughness of all opposing creatures to 1, turning small, symmetrical -1/-1 effects into permanent, one-sided board wipes. Pairing Maha with permanents like Kaervek, the Spiteful, Ascendant Evincar, or Pestilence creates a total creature lockout where opposing creatures die immediately upon entering the battlefield. The deck supports this core game plan with heavy resource denial, including Contamination, Nether Void, Mindslicer, and Smokestack to strip opposing mana and card advantage. Acceleration relies on mono-black staples such as Cabal Coffers, Crypt Ghast, and Jet Medallion to deploy threats ahead of curve. Once the table is locked down, the deck converts its advantage into a win using commander combat damage, life drain from Vein Ripper and Gray Merchant of Asphodel, or a massive Exsanguinate.
