Deck overview

This deck is a toughness-matters build helmed by Felothar the Steadfast, whose first ability lets every creature you control assign combat damage equal to its toughness rather than its power, and lets creatures with defender attack as though they didn't have it. The primary game plan is to deploy a board of high-toughness walls (Wall of Shards, Tree of Redemption, Wall of Roots, etc.) and then swing for massive damage using the toughness-replacement effect. The commander's activated ability-sacrifice another creature, draw cards equal to its toughness, then discard equal to its power-provides repeatable card advantage. Backup copies of the toughness-damage line come from Assault Formation and Doran, the Siege Tower. The deck also has a life-gain subtheme that can enable alternate wins via Felidar Sovereign (40 life) and Betor, Kin to All (halving life totals at 40 toughness). The overall curve is high (3.18 average MV without lands), and the deck is creature-heavy, relying on a slow, incremental combat plan.
