Deck overview

This Golgari deck pairs Kodama of the East Tree and Sengir, the Dark Baron to create a devastating aristocrats attrition engine. The deck ramps aggressively on early turns using 1-mana dorks and efficient rocks, quickly deploying Grave Pact effects and recursive sacrifice outlets. By chaining symmetrical edict creatures like Fleshbag Marauder and Plaguecrafter, the deck continuously clears opposing battlefields of creatures while growing Sengir into a massive flying threat. Death triggers fuel massive card draw through Yawgmoth, Thran Physician, Skullclamp, and Dark Prophecy, keeping resources flowing. Once Sengir reaches lethal power, land utility like Shizo, Death's Storehouse and The Black Gate forces commander damage through blockers to eliminate opponents one by one. Backup win conditions include explosive token swarms from Tombstone Stairwell, Ghoulcaller Gisa, and Korozda Guildmage, as well as heavy life drain via Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose and Bolas's Citadel.
