Deck overview

This deck is an aggressive Grixis Cascade and Group Slug strategy led by Abaddon the Despoiler. The game plan revolves around dealing consistent noncombat damage to all opponents using low-cost burn and slug permanents such as Creeping Bloodsucker, Descent into Avernus, and Flame Rift. Dealing damage lowers opposing life totals while fueling Abaddon's Mark of Chaos Ascendant ability, granting cascade to spells cast from hand based on total life lost that turn. Free cascade triggers easily hit zero-mana suspend payoffs like Ancestral Vision, Profane Tutor, and Wheel of Fate, generating massive card advantage and mana velocity. The deck closes games rapidly by pairing high-impact damage multipliers—such as Bloodletter of Aclazotz, Solphim, Mayhem Dominus, Twinflame Tyrant, and Archfiend of Despair—with board-wide burn or an active Heartless Hidetsugu. Exile-cast payoffs like Keeper of Secrets, Nalfeshnee, and Prosper, Tome-Bound compound this velocity to burn out the entire table simultaneously.
