Necromancy by Knollo19

Format: Commander

Commander: Scion of Halaster and Gale, Waterdeep Prodigy

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This is a Dimir spellslinger deck built around Gale, Waterdeep Prodigy with the Scion of Halaster Background. Casting an instant or sorcery from hand lets Gale cast the opposite card type from the graveyard, effectively giving every spell a second copy, while Scion upgrades each draw into top-two selection with one card binned to fuel the yard. The early game is surveil, looting, and cantrips; the mid-game chains instants and sorceries through recursion outlets like Emet-Selch of the Third Seat, Vohar, Vodalian Desecrator, and Secrets of the Dead. Payoffs are token armies - Talrand, Sky Summoner, Murmuring Mystic, Poppet Stitcher, and Lord of the Nazgul's Wraith breakpoint - capped by a giant Candlekeep Inspiration overrun or Fandaniel, Telophoroi Ascian life drain. There are no infinite combos; the deck wins through value density and recursion. The 99 carries several miniature Gales (Vohar, Rona, Herald of Invasion, Emet-Selch), so the engine is layered even though the commander is the primary piece.
