Deck overview

This deck is an Orzhov Aristocrats Control strategy built around Liesa, Forgotten Archangel. The primary game plan establishes an asymmetric attrition chokehold by combining Liesa's end-step creature recursion with self-sacrificing edict creatures like Plaguecrafter, Fleshbag Marauder, and Accursed Marauder. Because Liesa exiles opposing creatures whenever they die while returning your nontoken creatures to your hand at each end step, the engine strips opposing creature boards without permitting death triggers or graveyard recursion for opponents. As this attrition lock tightens around Turn 5–6, aristocrat drain engines like Cruel Celebrant, Zulaport Cutthroat, and Bastion of Remembrance convert repeated sacrifice loops into continuous table-wide life loss while Liesa applies 4-power flying lifelink pressure. Self-sacrificing protection pieces like Selfless Savior and Benevolent Bodyguard loop every turn to shield Liesa from targeted removal and sweepers. Backup recursion engines like Carmen, Cruel Skymarcher and Court of Ardenvale ensure relentless resilience even if the commander is removed.
