Deck overview

This deck is built around an ingenious rules interaction between Avatar Aang and the Innistrad instant Moonmist. Because Avatar Aang is a Human on his front face, casting Moonmist bypasses the difficult requirement of executing all four elemental bendings in a single turn, instantly transforming him into Aang, Master of Elements. On his transformed side, Aang provides a colossal {W}{U}{B}{R}{G} cost reduction to all spells, reducing generic mana costs by up to five. The deck backs this up with artifact tutors like Fabricate and Enlightened Tutor to find Isochron Scepter, allowing you to imprint Moonmist and repeatedly flip Aang each turn cycle to collect his upkeep bonus of four cards, four life, four +1/+1 counters, and 4 damage to each opponent. Once the cost reduction is active on Turn 4, the deck deploys game-ending threats like Apex Devastator, Portal to Phyrexia, Kozilek, Butcher of Truth, and Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger at a fraction of their cost to overwhelm the table.
