Deck overview

This deck is a Dimir forced-combat and attrition strategy led by Jon Irenicus, Shattered One. The deck functions by casting cheap creatures with debilitating drawbacks—such as Rotting Regisaur, Demonic Taskmaster, Archfiend of the Dross, and Evil Eye of Orms-by-Gore—and immediately handing them to opponents at the end step. Jon buffs these creatures with two +1/+1 counters, makes them permanently goaded, and prevents them from ever being sacrificed. This turns opposing players into proxies who must attack each other while suffering punishing upkeep triggers, all while Jon generates substantial card advantage as owned creatures swing. While the deck establishes severe asymmetric resource strain and accelerates opposing life loss early, it requires careful management during the endgame: once only one opponent remains, goaded creatures can turn their aggression directly back toward the pilot unless mass bounce spells like Evacuation or an unblockable Exsanguinate finish the game.
