Format: Commander

Commander: Scriv, the Obligator

Bracket: 2

Deck overview

This is an Orzhov Aura-control deck built around Scriv, the Obligator, a grinding value engine that fabricates a free Contract Aura on every entry and attack. Scriv puts the entire table on a mandatory attack-tax: opponents either attack each other with buffed creatures or lose life every combat, while Sphere of Safety and Ghostly Prison make attacking you prohibitively expensive. The deck layers three interlocking subthemes: goad Auras (Parasitic Impetus, Martial Impetus, Ghoulish Impetus class) that redirect combat, enchantress-style card draw (Sram, Senior Edificer, Kor Spiritdancer, Pearl-Ear, Imperial Advisor), and an Inkling token engine (Forum Filibuster, Dramatic Finale, Combat Calligrapher) that provides a durable evasive clock. The primary wins are slow table drain through Scriv contracts and Eriette of the Charmed Apple, combat damage from an unblockable/goated board, and the occasional unfair blowout from Eldrazi Conscription or Herald of Amity fetching a free Aura.
