Dethrone by JohnnyJoestar987

Format: Commander

Commander: Marchesa, the Black Rose

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This is a Grixis "threaten" deck helmed by Marchesa, the Black Rose, built around a simple but brutal loop: steal an opponent's creature, attack with it to trigger dethrone and put a +1/+1 counter on it, sacrifice it to an outlet like Ashnod's Altar or Carrion Feeder, and let Marchesa return it at the next end step - permanently under your control. With 26 steal effects ranging from Act of Treason to Insurrection, the deck converts opponents' boards into its own. The primary win is combat damage from an ever-growing army of stolen creatures, supercharged by Uncivil Unrest (double damage) and Herald of Secret Streams (unblockable). Secondary lines include Flayer of the Hatebound and Warstorm Surge ETB damage engines, plus mass-steal finishers like Insurrection and Mob Rule. Backup recursion from Gisa, Glorious Resurrector, Sothera, the Supervoid, and Alesha, Who Laughs at Fate keeps the engine running even if Marchesa is answered.
