Deck overview

This deck is a synergistic Mardu artifact aristocrats list commanded by Jan Jansen, Chaos Crafter. The strategy revolves around using Jan Jansen's haste and activated abilities to convert noncreature artifacts into Construct creature tokens and artifact creatures into Treasure tokens. This constant churn triggers a dense suite of aristocrat drain payoffs, including Mirkwood Bats, Marionette Apprentice, Reckless Fireweaver, and Mayhem Devil, to burn all opponents simultaneously. Mana velocity is accelerated by pieces like Smothering Tithe, Ashnod's Altar, and Krark-Clan Ironworks, while Bolas's Citadel and Skullclamp ensure card flow. The deck protects its combo and burn turns using silence effects like Grand Abolisher and Myrel, Shield of Argive alongside free spells like Deflecting Swat and Flawless Maneuver. It closes games by draining the table through repeated token loops or sinking massive mana into Torment of Hailfire.
