Deck overview

This mono-black cEDH deck leverages Yawgmoth, Thran Physician as an engine for card draw, creature removal, and instant-speed combo finishes. Powered by format-ceiling fast mana and black tutors, the deck deploys Yawgmoth on Turns 2–3. Its primary win condition pairs Yawgmoth with two undying creatures (such as Geralf's Messenger and Butcher Ghoul) or Nest of Scarabs. By trading -1/-1 counters and +1/+1 counters between undying creatures, the deck draws its library and drains opponents to zero in a single turn using payoffs like Blood Artist, Ayara, First of Locthwain, or Messenger triggers. Defensively, hate pieces like Opposition Agent, Dauthi Voidwalker, and Orcish Bowmasters stymie opposing strategies while Yawgmoth controls creature boards. If the commander is removed, alternative win lines like Bolas's Citadel with Sensei's Divining Top provide strong backup paths.
