Deck overview

This mono-black Aristocrats deck is led by Sarevok, Deathbringer partnered with Agent of the Shadow Thieves. The strategy focuses on applying continuous life-drain pressure through Sarevok's end-step trigger and an aggressive combat stance. Agent of the Shadow Thieves continuously grows Sarevok with +1/+1 counters while granting indestructible and deathtouch whenever he attacks the player with the most life. Beneath this commander-centric pressure lies a robust aristocrats engine featuring resilient recursive creatures like Reassembling Skeleton, Bloodsoaked Champion, and Ophiomancer, paired with sacrifice outlets such as Phyrexian Altar, Viscera Seer, and Vampiric Rites. Drain effects from Bastion of Remembrance, Zulaport Cutthroat, Syr Konrad, the Grim, and Titan Hunter convert repeated creature deaths into steady life loss for the whole table. The deck caps off its attrition with powerful late-game finishers like Gray Merchant of Asphodel and Exsanguinate, closing games around Turn 8 while maintaining solid resilience through graveyard recursion.
