Deck overview

This Izzet deck is commanded by Itazura, Lingering Wick, an engine that turns every upkeep into a high-stakes psychological bidding game. The deck leverages extra upkeep steps (Paradox Haze, The Ninth Doctor, Sphinx of the Second Sun) and non-legendary cloning (Spark Double, Irenicus's Vile Duplication, Mirror Room // Fractured Realm) to trigger Itazura multiple times per turn cycle. To ensure opponents pay heavily for casting free spells, punisher pieces like Adrenaline Jockey and Scytheclaw Raptor deal direct damage whenever a spell is cast outside of a player's own turn. Lifegain denial from Leyline of Punishment, Rampaging Ferocidon, and Sunspine Lynx guarantees that damage sticks, while Descent into Avernus accelerates the table's collective descent into lethal burn range. Topdeck manipulation tools like Scroll Rack and Brainstorm allow precise control over what cards are offered to opponents.
