Deck overview

This deck is a synergistic Golgari token and tribal midrange strategy commanded by Hazel of the Rootbloom. The game plan revolves around generating early Food and creature tokens, deploying Hazel on Turn 4, and duplicating Squirrel tokens every end step. Hazel turns wide token boards into substantial bursts of mana, accelerating high-impact threats well ahead of curve. The deck transitions into lethal pressure around Turn 5 using mass pump effects like Beastmaster Ascension, Preposterous Proportions, and Camellia, the Seedmiser, alongside life-draining engines such as Valley Rotcaller and Mirkwood Bats. The interactive suite is versatile and flexible, answering all permanent types through cards like Assassin's Trophy, Beast Within, Tear Asunder, and Swarmyard Massacre. While the deck recovers well from removal thanks to redundant token producers, it relies on natural card flow and remains susceptible to exile-based board wipes.
