Format: Commander

Commander: Old Rutstein

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This is a Golgari graveyard value deck that fills its graveyard to reanimate large threats and drain the table. Old Rutstein mills one card each turn and on entry, making a Treasure, Insect, or Blood token to ramp, chisel, and fuel sacrifice outlets. The main plan wins through incremental drain from Syr Konrad, the Grim and Dreadhound plus big reanimation payoffs like Colossal Grave-Reaver and Archon of Cruelty. Secondary paths go wide with Field of the Dead, Kessig Cagebreakers and Avenger of the Fallen, or close with Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord sacrificing a large Lord of Extinction. Fiend Artisan and Syr Konrad act as hidden commanders as tutor and drain engine.
