Commander: Ratonhnhaké꞉ton

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This Esper Equipment/Assassin deck is helmed by Ratonhnhake ton, a low-cost commander with built-in evasion and a powerful value engine. The primary game plan is to suit up the commander with cheap Equipment, exploit its hexproof/unblockable status to connect reliably, and trigger its ability to create Assassin tokens while recurring Equipment from the graveyard. Over time, this generates a recursive army of evasive threats and a resupply of combat tools. The deck also includes a secondary Assassin tribal subtheme, with Ramses, Assassin Lord providing an alternate win condition if an opponent loses after being attacked by an Assassin. The focus is on gradual value accumulation through combat damage, rather than fast combo kills. Key payoffs include Blackblade Reforged, Colossus Hammer, and Helm of the Host to amplify the commander's damage, while Sram, Senior Edificer and Puresteel Paladin keep the hand full. The deck is resilient but heavily artifact-dependent, making it vulnerable to mass artifact hate.
