Deck overview

This deck is a mono-black attrition and control deck built around Tergrid, God of Fright. The primary strategy focuses on deploying Tergrid and immediately resolving symmetric discard and sacrifice effects like Dark Deal, Plaguecrafter, and Rankle's Prank. Tergrid's triggered ability steals all discarded permanent cards and sacrificed nontoken permanents, turning opponents' lost resources directly into your own overwhelming board advantage. The deck features extreme redundancy across sacrifice and discard pieces, supported by stax and punishers like Opposition Agent, Sheoldred, the Apocalypse, and Grave Pact. While the deck lacks high-speed fast mana and relies on natural land drops to cast its 5-mana commander, resolving a single mass discard spell with Tergrid on board creates a decisive lock that rapidly ends the game through combat with stolen permanents or life drain via Gray Merchant of Asphodel.
