Hosts of Mordor (army) by Killermath

Format: Commander

Commander: Sauron, the Dark Lord

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Sauron, the Dark Lord is primarily a card-advantage and amass engine rather than an independent finisher. The main plan is to pour amass triggers into one Army, attack with it to tempt the Ring, discard a hand full of spells, and draw four to keep chaining more amass effects. Assault on Osgiliath and trample/menace anthems turn that Army into a one-shot beater. Secondary axes use The Great Goblin and Lasting Tarfire as slow pings and One Ring to Rule Them All as a mass-drain/board-wipe swing. Saruman, the White Hand is effectively a hidden commander: it converts every noncreature spell into amass value and keeps the deck functioning if Sauron is repeatedly answered.
