Deck overview

Kumena, Tyrant of Orazca commands a synergistic Simic Merfolk kindred deck designed to build a wide board, accumulate +1/+1 counters, and overwhelm opponents through evasive combat. Early turns focus on accelerating mana and deploying low-cost Merfolk such as Cenote Scout, Deeproot Elite, and Silvergill Mentor. By Turn 4, Kumena enters to transform these creatures into an engine for card draw and unblockable pressure. Mid-game turns scale board power rapidly through explore triggers from Hakbal of the Surging Soul, anthem effects from lords like Master of the Pearl Trident and Merrow Reejerey, and token proliferation via Deeproot Pilgrimage. Once a critical mass of Merfolk is established, the deck transitions into lethal combat around Turn 6, utilizing Herald of Secret Streams, Islandwalk, or Overwhelming Stampede to bypass blockers and systematically eliminate players by Turn 8. Resilient protection pieces like Vodalian Hexcatcher, Svyelun of Sea and Sky, and Inspiring Call shield the board against disruption.
