Deck overview

This deck is a focused Skullbriar, the Walking Grave Voltron strategy built entirely around the commander's unique ability to retain +1/+1 counters through zone changes. The primary game plan involves accelerating Skullbriar onto the battlefield as early as turn 2, suiting it up with protection and counter-doubling effects, and quickly growing its power to lethal levels via combat damage or direct-drain spells like Essence Harvest and Rite of Consumption. The deck leans heavily on a dense package of counter synergies-Hardened Scales, Branching Evolution, Kami of Whispered Hopes, Loading Zone, and Ozolith, the Shattered Spire-to multiply counters exponentially.
